beginning again

It’s been a long time since I have been here to write. In all honesty, I was sidetracked and busy. My son’s graduation from college, my other son’s move to LA for graduate school, a personal battle with thyroid cancer, and close to 2 years of career and personal changes and challenges.

So here we are, gratefully facing another year before us. Gratefully healthy.

2020 has already been full and extremely challenging. Just reading the paper is proof of that.

I’ve been thinking about how we all try to balance the multiple roles we take on a daily basis. For me, a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, stylist, photographer, yogi, New Yorker etc… Some days seamlessly, and others not so much. Some days can rock your core from the joy of it all, others can rock your core from the challenges and defeats. Some days motivated and energized, others not so much.. All experiences, all important.

I’ve been thinking about finding time for ourselves. Creating moments that are solely for oneself.. No-one else. I know for me, that is a hard thing to accomplish, but most definitely on my radar and a pertinent goal.

I’m not a New Year’s resolution kind of person. I am frequently setting new goals for myself and shifting the way things are done throughout the year, but this year, I started ceramics the first week of January. My first time in a ceramics class in many many years, and I am happy there.

I’ll admit, she asked us to make a cylinder, and I made a bowl,(lol) but I will keep trying and hopefully gain the control I want with the wheel.

I have had this box of vintage tools for years, many for ceramics. I purchased them from an auction and was surprised when I found them in several different boxes, I just love texture, weight and size of all of these. They really are quite beautiful . I am looking forward to learning their purpose, and as always, seeing the beauty in the things that often get overlooked.

I will try to post often. I will try to visit lots of new places, try new things and most definitely share new finds.

If you ever see anything you’d like to purchase, please email me. I’ll be selling lots more this year.
